My life has improved immeasurably, actually changed 180 degrees, since taking an MBTI assessment when I was 43 years old, then followed by taking the certification training in 2001.

Is it possible to change your whole perception of yourself and your relationship with others? I did!

Insights from MBTI, combined with my coach certification trainings, spun me around so that I was facing in a different direction, a more fulfilling, exciting and expanded existence.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® is based on the work of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung (1875 – 1961), the founder of analytical psychology. (Photo above right: circa 1960).
C. G. Jung’s theory of psychological types inspired two Americans: Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers. They drew on his concepts, to construct the MBTI®. They were inspired by the book “Psychological Types” by Jung. You can read the story of this fascinating development in the beloved classic, “Gifts Differing: Understanding Personality Type”, Briggs and Myers.

Learning my “type” and studying the character implications, I discovered a wealth of hidden gems that was my true personality.
These traits were buried under the expectations of my family, my early education and my social awkwardness. This lack of understanding of my gifts kept me from seeing my skills, talents and abilities that I was born with. Although my traits were experienced in a minuscule way, it was nothing compared to having them revealed so dynamically and dramatically as after taking the assessment. No matter the years passing; life continues to be an exciting, ongoing journey of discovery.

“As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence
is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.”
— Carl Jung

MBTI is a self-assessment and not a test. Although the report indicates preferences, these need to be verified by both the person taking the assessment and the training of a certified professional.

I have been a Certified MBTI™ Practitioner with advanced trainings since 2001.

A word about “Free” online MBTI assessments: Buyer Beware! They can lead you down a path erroneous and misleading information which corrupts your understanding of yourself and others. The authentic MBTIassessment is internationally accepted as the premier personality assessment.

Taking the MBTI™ assessment can be done in two ways:

  1. *** Coaching Package: The MBTI assessment can be taken as part of the initial Discovery Session at the beginning of a coaching relationship.
There is a 20% discounted fee for this option.
  2.  *** A stand-alone assessment. MBTI only: Total 2 hour session: A .5 hour intake session and a 1.5 hour meeting to verify that the reported type is the true type.MBTI is a self-assessment and not a test.
Although the report indicates preferences, these need to be verified by both the person taking the assessment and the training of a certified professional.
here are several approaches to this verification, which can give you astonishing insight.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) instrument is based on the eminent Swiss psychoanalyst C.G. Jung’s theory of psychological types. It is used to develop a deeper understanding of ourselves, improve our communication in relationships and indicate career preferences.

The assessment helps to constructively promote personal development, manage conflict and increase human understanding worldwide. The theory shows how each person has a different experience perceiving events and making decisions. With the right view, this can be valuable rather than divisive.

I am a longtime member of APTi, the Association for Psychological Type International, a membership organization founded to extend the development, research, applications and ethical use of type theory.

I have been on the Program Committee of the Bay Area Chapter of APTi ( BAAPT), the Association for Psychological Type international, from 2004 to the present, working to research, choose and contact our national and international presenters for our chapter season of nine programs from September to May. I also work behind the scenes to manage, organize and clarify guidelines for presenters for the whole APTi organization.
